‘THE FLOWER BOOK’ ON MILAN RECORDS NOVEMBER 14:
A COLLECTION OF UNIQUELY SENSUAL SONGS FROM FRANCE’S MOST PROMISING FEMALE ARTIST
The Flower Book opener “Song of the Storm” appeared on the La Marche De L’Empereur soundtrack and is a literally ice-tinged track (rubbing pieces of ice together to produce beats and sounds to blend with her electronic machinery) with enticing lyrics: “Can't you hear my storm coming/Stones falling on to you/Can't you feel the earth shaking/Big dark clouds forming now.”
A cover of The Stooges classic “I Wanna Be Your Dog” as well as songs “Desert,” “My Old Friend” and the absolutely charming “Flowers” from EMILIE’s Victories De La Music Award-winning Emilie Simon album (electronic category) also appear on The Flower Book. And from Végétal–a veritable sonic fairytale whose songs’ common traits were names of flowers (garden or wild), carnivorous plants, climbing plants, floating blooms or ghost-like trees–comes “Dame De Lotus,” “Rose Hybride du Thé” and “Fleur De Saison.” Predicted Kieron Tyler in the aforementioned Mojo review (August 2006) of Végétal, “Singing in English and in French, she is casting wide for an audience. She won’t be waiting long.”
Currently EMILIE is on tour in Europe in support of Végétal. In November, this enchanting songstress will travel to New York and Los Angeles to perform material from The Flower Book for the first time for a U.S. audience. Details to be announced at a later date.
