Some people write prom songs.
Some people write wedding songs.
EVERCLEAR has written the breakup song of 2006: “Hater.”
One of the most dominant bands of the ‘90’s is back. EVERCLEAR will premiere its new video for the rock anthem “Hater” Wednesday, July 26 on Yahoo! Music (www.yahoomusic.com). The video takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the headline-grabbing deterioration of celebrity relationships and features “cameos” of some of Hollywood’s most famous and recent broken-hearted. The “Hater” video can be seen at http://music.yahoo.com/promos/premieres.
Led by singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer ART ALEXAKIS, who’s had his own well-publicized breakups, “Hater” is a return to the sound that scored EVERCLEAR a significant number of alternative rock and MTV hits (many of which crossed over to other formats) including mainstays like “Santa Monica,” “Father Of Mine,” “Everything to Everyone,” “I Will Buy You A New Life” and “Wonderful.” A number of high-profile activities have been confirmed to launch “Hater,” the first single from the group's upcoming album WELCOME TO THE DRAMA CLUB, out September 12 on Eleven Seven Music.
The video premiere will be followed by EVERCLEAR returning to television this Thursday, July 27 to perform a special version of “Hater” on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno." The band will also be performing on Last Call with Carson Daly on August 1st.
“Everclear’s distinct sound and irreverent videos became a big hit with music fans throughout the 1990’s,” said Jay Frank, head of Yahoo! Music programming and label relations. “As the group makes their anticipated return with this year’s break-up song ‘Hater,’ we’re excited to premiere the band’s new video and reintroduce Everclear to their fans through Yahoo! Music.”
WELCOME TO THE DRAMA CLUB marks EVERCLEAR’s first album of all new studio material since 2003’s Slow Motion Daydream. The album is undeniably EVERCLEAR–searing autobiographical songs matched with music born from both the punk and classic rock eras–and opens up an exciting new chapter for the group who earned a four-star album review in Rolling Stone for 2004’s 20-track career retrospective Ten Years Gone: The Best of Everclear 1994-2004.
