FERRY CORSTEN GOES ‘L.E.F. (LOUD ELECTRONIC FEROCIOUS)’
WITH NEW ALBUM FOR ULTRA RECORDS AUGUST 8
FIRST SINGLE “FIRE” FEATURING SIMON LEBON BURNS AT #9 ON BILLBOARD’S “HOT DANCE AIRPLAY” CHART
SPRING NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
A pioneer and a dynamic force in the electronic/dance music world, FERRY CORSTEN never ceases to amaze, awe and challenge his musical contemporaries with the unstoppable ingenuity and skill he injects into his productions and DJ sets. On August 8, CORSTEN will release his second artist album L.E.F (LOUD ELECTRONIC FEROCIOUS) on ULTRA Records. The first single “Fire”–featuring vocals by Duran Duran front man Simon LeBon–is already burning up the charts by scoring the #9 position on Billboard’s “Hot Dance Airplay” chart.
L.E.F (LOUD ELECTRONIC FEROCIOUS) seamlessly combines CORSTEN’s highly desired sound while introducing a new pop/rock element with guest vocalists and collaborations with Howard Jones, Guru, Debra Andrew, Oz, Denise Stahlie and of course Simon LeBon. Says CORSTEN about the album: “It's energetic, melodic and uplifting with a 'raw' touch! I love it when a beautiful melody is played with a dirty or distorted sound. Somehow the two don’t match, but therefore it makes it sound even better. ‘Loud, Electronic and Ferocious’ would be another way to describe it.”
CORSTEN started work on L.E.F. almost two years ago, recording most of it in his Rotterdam, Netherlands studio. Some of the songs were written elsewhere. “Junk” with Guru was penned in New York as an answer to a track on his previous album Right Of Way. “Fall Into The Dark” with Howard Jones and “Forever” with Debra Andrew were written in the U.K. The rest was recorded and mixed in Holland. “I like to mix everything in my own studio,” adds CORSTEN, “so all tracks have the same signature sound.”
L.E.F. is the follow-up to CORSTEN’s debut Right of Way which featured the international smash “Rock Your Body, Rock” that debuted at #11 on the U.K. charts. Following Right of Way, he unleashed a new signature mix album series entitled Passport. With it, CORSTEN was able to continue his legacy of brilliant mix albums but took the opportunity to inject it with more original productions and remixes. Most recently, CORSTEN remixed the theme song for the FOX television show “Prison Break.”
In advance of the August 8 release of L.E.F., FERRY CORSTEN will travel from his native Holland to North America for a select number of DJ dates. A national tour will follow in the fall. CORSTEN’s current tour routing is as follows:
