“Black Sabbath and 1970s hard rock and proto-metal provide a reliable foundation for most of the band's songs. But listen closely, and other styles naturally work their way in. For instance, ‘Fallen Believers,’ a newer song, starts off not with a monster riff, but a twangy acoustic guitar you might hear from a blues guitarist, or from The Cult, or even from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. (Don't worry, the monster riffs kick in shortly after!)”
–Mike Prevatt, LAS VEGAS CITYLIFE, 6/3/10
Acclaimed Los Angeles group FIREBALL MINISTRY are set to headline the “Doom In June” festival Saturday, June 5 at the Cheyenne Saloon in Las Vegas (3103 N Rancho Drive; doors open: 2pm). The first-ever “Doom In June” will feature supporting sets from Black Cobra, Slough Feg, The Gates of Slumber, Radio Moscow, Sasquatch, House of Broken Promises, Ride The Sun, SuperGiant, Behold! The Monolith, Green & Wood, Aranya, Salvador, Lead Burns Red and Dirt Communion.
Next up, FIREBALL MINISTRY have confirmed a special performance to preview the Ink and Iron Festival on Thursday, June 10 at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach (2913 East Anaheim Street). Wulfbane and DJ Small Paul will support.
In other news, the group just shot a video for their first single “Butcher, Faker, Policy Maker” in Northern California late last month. The performance–based clip was directed by Brandon Trost who directed the video for “Sundown” off the group’s previous album Their Rock Is Not Our Rock (Liquor & Poker). “For the new video, we were just playing and rocking and doing what we do, says REV. JAMES A ROTA. “Brandon wanted to make a video that was reminiscent of the cinematography of (the movie) ‘Raging Bull.’ Most of us in the band are pretty bullish, so it worked out well.” Look for the video to debut soon.
The June show announcements and video news come on the heels of the release of their self-titled fourth album this spring on Restricted Release. For their new album, FIREBALL MINISTRY re-teamed with renowned producer/engineer Andrew Alekel (Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters)–who they’d previously tapped for production work on FMEP (Bongload) and The Second Great Awakening (Nuclear Blast). FIREBALL MINISTRY was recorded at Grandmaster in Hollywood, with additional vocals tracked at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606.
Beloved by critics and hard rock fans across the globe FIREBALL MINISTRY’s REV. JAMES A. ROTA II (guitar, vocals), EMILY J. BURTON (guitar), JOHN ORESHNICK (drums) and JOHNY CHOW (bass) new album, titled simply FIREBALL MINISTRY marks the follow-up to Their Rock Is Not Our Rock (Liquor & Poker) and the group’s first release without a traditional label.
