GLAMOUR KILLS
AND GABE SAPORTA OF COBRA STARSHIP
PARTNER FOR
‘OVERNIGHT SENSATION’ CLOTHING LINE
TO DEBUT OCTOBER 20
GLAMOUR KILLS–the edgy independent lifestyle brand that bridges the gap between music and fashion–has partnered with Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship for the “OVERNIGHT SENSATION” clothing line which will debut October 20.
Founded by young entrepreneur/designer Mark Capicotto in 2005, GLAMOUR KILLS continues to push the boundaries in an effort to bring original, progressive ideas to art, fashion and music.
Saporta formed the acclaimed Cobra Starship, whose current CD HOT MESS (Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen) debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 in August. The disc features the group’s smash single “Good Girls Go Bad,” which has sold over 1.3 million copies. Cobra Starship can be seen performing on ABC-TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight (Tuesday, October 13).
Saporta explains how OVERNIGHT SENSATION came to be: “I was sick of watching Glamour Kills jack my style and make a ton of money from it. So I told Marky that if he didn't cut me in on his profits, I'd call some people I know in Queens and have them rip off his toe nails one-by-one. Naturally, Marky was more than willing to negotiate with me.” He continues: “All kidding aside, the first time I met Mark was when GK and Cobra collaborated on a limited edition t-shirt (and if I'm not mistaken, I believe we were the first band to do such a collaboration). The shirt looked sick, the reaction to it was awesome, and it sold out instantly. Mark was great to work with because we definitely share a similar esthetic, and in the back of my mind, I hoped we'd be able to work together again when the time was right. That time is now. Glamour Kills, Gabe Saporta Saves!”
The OVERNIGHT SENSATION line–which will initially feature two logo and four design t-shirts–was developed following GLAMOUR KILLS successful run of collaboration t-shirts with bands including Cobra Starship, All Time Low, Mayday Parade, A Rocket To The Moon, Hey Monday, Silverstein, The Maine and The Cab.
GLAMOUR KILLS’ t-shirts, hoodies, bathing suits and denim combine a rock n’ roll edge with a chic modernism to outfit everyone from the punk rocker to the club hopper. The recently-unveiled fall GK line includes four long-sleeved plaid button-up shirts which are the first of many custom garments to come.
