GOLDFRAPP CONTINUE TO CEMENT THE SOUND OF COOL THROUGH TV/FILM LICENSING AND TELEVISION PERFORMANCE
NEW TARGET HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN SET TO DRIVE ‘SUPERNATURE’
“Marie Antoinette,” “Miami Vice,” “Sex & The City,” “The Sopranos,” “Nip/Tuck,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” “CSI” and “Desperate Housewives” are just a few of the films and television shows that have been captured by the musical allure of Britain’s hottest act GOLDFRAPP.
The worldwide million-selling songs created by Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory from their critically acclaimed MUTE releases Supernature (2006) and Black Cherry (2003) have also been cleared for over 40 uses this year, allowing their songs “Ooh La La,” “Beautiful” and “Ride A White Horse” to reach a massive audience in addition to the support of radio play. In addition, "Strict Machine" recently went to number one on iTunes electronica chart following its use on “Nip/Tuck” and Verizon’s “Chocolate” television ad. “Ooh La La” is also highlighted in AllTel wireless’ current TV ad.
Now, GOLDFRAPP will achieve its largest licensing exposure yet when national retail chain Target launches its holiday ad campaign utilizing their songs “Fly Me Away” and “Number One” which began November 2 during the Latin Grammys broadcast. GOLDFRAPP’s music will be heavily featured throughout the multi-million-dollar campaign, which extends through December.
In other happenings, GOLDFRAPP just completed a taping for Showtime’s “The L Word,” which will air in early 2007. On the show, Alison Goldfrapp and her band performed “Ride A White Horse” from the Supernature album. Following the taping in Vancouver, Canada, GOLDFRAPP headed east to New York to perform their final sold-out show on their Supernature world-tour at Roseland Ballroom.
2006 continues to be the strongest year yet for GOLDFRAPP. An electrifying concert attraction, they received attention for their performances of “Ooh La La” on the “Late Show With Letterman” and the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” earlier this year. Supernature, released March 7 2006, is an unbeatable glam/pop/electronic/dance hybrid that was hailed by Blender (four stars), Time (“5 Great Albums” page, 3/27/06) Rolling Stone (“"Toxic and delicious, Supernature will make you do bad things–and like it, 3/6/06) and England’s NME (“the best pop album of 2005”).
