Upon completion of sold-out tours of Japan and Australia, GREEN DAY will launch the next leg of their North American tour April 30 in Houston, TX.
Before this trek kicks-off, the band will make a special appearance in San Francisco at a top-secret location on April 17, which will air live as a "MTV Live From The 10 Spot" concert special.
Once the tour is underway, they'll make two special stops in New York City: the first on May 7 to appear on the Late Show With David Letterman, performing their Top Five smash "Time Of Your Life (Good Riddance)." Next, they'll make an appearance on Howard Stern's national radio show the morning of May 8.
Meanwhile, in late March, GREEN DAY—BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG (vocals, guitar), MIKE DIRNT (bass, vocals) and TRE' COOL (drums)–will release "Redundant," the third track from their gold-plus NIMROD album. While in Los Angeles recently, the group shot a video for the song with director Mark Kohr, who's lensed many classic GREEN DAY videos including "Basket Case," "When I Come Around" and "Time Of Your Life."
"Redundant" has been touted as one of the highlights on the album by various members of the media. Greg Kot recently described the song in Rolling Stone as one with "…chiming, Byrds-ian guitars and soaring vocals." Parke Puterbaugh, writing in Stereo Review magazine, took note of the "twelve-string chimes amid the deliberated unfolding of `Redundant'…," adding that "such changes of pace in an eighteen-song program are not only welcome but necessary, counterbalancing the semiautomatic pop-punk onslaughts. No one since the Ramones has married the two disputant genres better…"
Beyond the critical acclaim for NIMROD , the album won "Outstanding Rock/Pop Album" at the California Music Awards that were held March 7 in San Francisco, CA.
