'A SANTA CAUSE II'
COMPILATION TO BE EXCLUSIVELY SOLD THROUGH MYSPACE
DUE OUT NOVEMBER 21
A PORTION OF THE PROCEEDS FROM THE MULTI-ARTIST COMPILATION
WILL BENEFIT CURE AUTISM NOW
Immortal Records announces the release of A SANTA CAUSE II. Due out November 21, this innovative digital-only compilation will be sold exclusively through MySpace. Log onto www.myspace.com/asantacause for more information. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to Cure Autism Now, an organization of parents, clinicians and scientists dedicated to accelerating the pace of scientific research to prevent, treat and cure autism–for individuals and families today, and for future generations.
A SANTA CAUSE II features both top acts and up-and-coming artists spanning the worlds of rock, punk, emo, indie and hardcore. For a consumer-friendly price of $9.99 (or .99 cents per song) fans can download the diverse compilation of 30 brand new holiday songs. Some of the dozens of artists that appear on this year's compilation are: Sugarcult, It Dies Today, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Haste the Day, The Format, June, Action Action, Spitalfield, A Change of Pace, Daphne Loves Derby, Hot Rod Circuit, Meg & Dia, MC Lars, Brandston, Brazil and many more to be announced soon.
Immortal Records–the label that brought you Korn, Incubus, and 30 Seconds to Mars–successfully re-launched in 2004 as an independent label brand. At the forefront of digital innovation, Immortal has embraced the opportunity to be the first label to release an album exclusively through MySpace. "We have tremendous respect for MySpace and its ability to market music directly to the fans," notes Immortal Records CEO Happy Walters. "MySpace has played such an invaluable role in the development of these artists' careers."
"We are honored that Immortal Records chose Cure Autism Now as the beneficiary of their A Santa Cause holiday release," says Peter Bell, President and CEO of Cure Autism Now. "As autism has become a major health crisis around the world, we are grateful to organizations such as Immortal Records for raising awareness about autism and funding for our research and treatment programs through their innovative music projects."
The previous A SANTA CAUSE CD compilation in 2003 was a great success with participating bands including Blink 182, Fall Out Boy, MxPx and New Found Glory, to name a few. The album sold 50,000 copies and received over 100,000 downloads.
ARTIST QUOTES:
"Does it ever creep you out that some fat guy supposedly sneaks into your house every year through your chimney, eats your cookies, leaves gifts and then takes off with a bunch of deer? Anyway, that's beside the point, but it is with great pleasure that we offer our rendition of the 3-chord X-mas classic 'Santa Claus is Coming To Town' in the name of such a worthy and urgent cause as Cure Autism Now. Rock n roll has always been the voice of the voiceless, so it's always right to take action and help those in need."
–Love, Marko DeSantis–SUGARCULT
"We've been having trouble coming up with the time to recreate an Xmas song, but it's easy to find time to be on a record that funds an organization like Cure Autism Now. We're very excited to be a part of this record with so many great bands, and very proud to be a part of Immortal, that gives back when they find the opportunity."
–Pouyan Afkary, SCARING KIDS SCARING KIDS
"We are all stoked to be a part of something like this. To know that we can benefit a cause like Cure Autism Now by doing what we love is such an amazing experience. Beyond the music itself, it's totally rad to see everyone united and focused on helping out."
–Jon Kelley, A CHANGE OF PACE
"This is a great cause and an even better way to release it. We've been releasing our music on MySpace since this summer and we're proud to contribute to such a great charity."
Nate Ruess–THE FORMAT
"I'm thrilled to be involved with the project; it's for a great cause. I chose 'Happy Christmas, the War Is Over' by John Lennon. I chose this song since I have three daughters and I've wanted to record to a song with them and they sang the entire choir portion of the song."
–Andy Jackson, HOT ROD CIRCUIT
"We decided to write our own original Christmas song in order to get our message across on what we feel Christmas is really essentially about: forgetfulness. Forgetting about yourself. Forgetting about your faults. Forgetting about trespasses you have done in the past and those that have been done to you. Once you have forgotten your instabilities you can focus in on those you love and give as much as you can to them. Music is a gift. And this time, many people have worked together in order for the proceeds of this record to go directly to Cure Autism Now. We are so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be a part of this. "
–Dia, MEG & DIA
"We as a band could not be more excited about taking part in this compilation. Not only is it a groundbreaking 'internet only' release with MySpace and Immortal Records, it also benefits a great cause. Anytime as a musician you have an opportunity to use your music as a tool to help others, it is a tremendously rewarding experience. Autism is a disorder that continues to appear in record numbers and hits very close to home for an ever-increasing number of people. We could not have picked a better cause to contribute towards. Also, as a band who owes much of its success to the online community, taking part in a digital-only compilation is particularly exciting."
–Kenny Choi, DAPHNE LOVES DERBY
"Music is a wonderful aspect of all of our everyday lives; setting a mood for our creative atmosphere, subliminally stimulating our actions. Whether you are creating, recreating, playing, or listening, it speaks to us, regardless of its native tongue, in a universal language living inside of us all, pushing and promoting free-thinking. We are proud and honored to support this fantastic cause in aid of autism research."
— Mark Thomas Kluepfel, ACTION ACTION
"We are extremely excited to get the opportunity to team up with MySpace and Immortal Records for an Xmas album. We're equally thrilled to be a part of a really great cause with a lot of amazing bands."
–Nicholas Brooks, IT DIES TODAY
"We are stoked to team up with Immortal Records and MySpace for this release. Cure Autism Now is an important organization and we can only hope that our contribution will help the cause. Myspace and Immortal RULE for taking an active interest in this!!"
—HASTE THE DAY
"We're very thankful to be involved with this record. We've always wanted to do a Christmas song of our own and never had the push to do it. This was a really great opportunity to get to be a part of raising awareness and funds for something important, as well as doing something fun on our end of it. The song we contributed was born out of a cold morning sentimental look back on holidays gone by and the sort of mid-western snowy, day after depression."
–Matthew Traxler, BRANDSTON
"'A Santa Cause' is something that we have wanted to do since the first day we heard about it. As a benefit for Cure Autism Now we felt very happy and obligated to help when this opportunity arose. Immortal Records and MySpace are the two companies we're excited to be involved with and it's awesome to be a part of MySpace's first-ever release through their new digital download system. Not only that, but we're excited to be apart of a compilation with so many good bands. We covered Paul McCartney's and Wings' 'Wonderful Christmas Time' and that alone was a huge challenge for us. Hopefully our efforts can help this CD and the benefits it will deliver."
–Mark Sutor, JUNE
"Being part of a compilation that will cater to so many different styles of audiences is exciting for us! We've really never attempted to write a holiday-themed song before and it was definitely fun to try something totally different. The fact that it is all for a good cause really sold me on it."
–Mark Rose, SPITALFIELD
