‘NEW MOON BORN’
DUE OUT APRIL 27
DEBUT RELEASE FROM
MISS MOLLY RECORDS

JANA co-produced the album with Stephan Galfas, internationally renowned for his work with artists including Cher, Meat Loaf, and Kool & the Gang. NEW MOON BORN bears Galfas’ signature sound, seamlessly blending contemporary R&B and urban with pop, world and Native American flavors.
Featured tracks on NEW MOON BORN include a heart-wrenching version of Sam Cooke’s classic “A Change is Gonna Come” and JANA’s own “Solid Ground,” the album’s next single. JANA wrote all the album’s songs (with the exception of the Cooke cover) and this album represents a significant departure from her previous endeavors, taking on a decidedly more upbeat rhythm and blues feel.
“This album is about rebirth and new beginnings,” JANA says. “It reflects a phase in my life that has taken on a different shape and direction from anything I’ve done before. This music conveys my personal truths and beliefs.”
Later this year, JANA will also release her first book, AMERICAN INDIAN STORY. It was co-written with 2010 Mom’s Choice Award winner Stephanie Duckworth, and is based on Jana’s best-selling, Grammy-nominated album of the same name.
Since the 2006 release of AMERICAN INDIAN STORY, the Lumbee Indian singer-songwriter has not had a moment’s rest. Amidst her demanding touring schedule which has taken her to 48 states as well as Europe and Canada, she also released AMERICAN INDIAN CHRISTMAS, a collection of ten traditional Christmas carols, each sung in a different Native American tongue. At the start of the new millennium, JANA found success with chart-topping club hits like “More Than Life” and her cover of Led Zeppelin’s epic “Stairway to Heaven,” earning her the honor of being the first Native American female to land on the Billboard dance charts.
