JIM LAUDERDALE: NEW ALBUM ‘PATCHWORK RIVER’ ENTERS CHARTS; MORE EUROPEAN DATES WITH ELVIS COSTELLO AND U.S. SOLO DATES

In an “A”-graded review, the Philadelphia Daily  News Jonathan Takiff said, “Hunter is serving his muse and keeping us amused in collaborations with rootsy singer/songwriter Jim Lauderdale–the latest example being a beaut of a Lauderdale album called ‘Patchwork River (5/11/1/0),” while Elmore Magazine’s Tom Hallett hailed it as “A true classic (May 2010).”  

Lauderdale–who has collaborated with or written hits for the likes of George Strait, Ralph Stanley, Dixie Chicks, George Jones, Patty Loveless, Vince Gill and countless others–is currently touring the U.S. on his own, with upcoming shows in New York (June 15, opening for Suzy Bogguss at City Winery) and Los Angeles (June 18, solo show at McCabe’s Guitar Shop).  Lauderdale has also received praise for his work as guitarist and back up singer in Elvis Costello’s band, the Sugarcanes, who recently toured the U.S. and will head to Europe beginning with a June 28 show in Liverpool, England.  American Songwriter’s Davis Inman summed it up by calling Lauderdale “a true American Renaissance man (5/12/10).”

On the radio front, Jim has been hosting a weekly show on Nashville station WSM, where on Wednesdays from 2-3:00 PM he plays a free-form selection of music that he likes and wants to share with fans (http://www.wsmradio.com/home).  He has also recently hosted the station’s “Music City Roots” program, where artists perform live from Nashville’s Loveless Café.
