KORN KEEPS IT "ALL IN THE FAMILY": When KORN put the word out to some of their closest friends–along with a couple of new acquaintances–to add a few special touches to their forthcoming FOLLOW THE LEADER album (due out August 18), the guests came in ready to hit the mike. Beyond having the chance to record with some of their friends like Ice Cube, B-Real from Cypress Hill and Tre' from the Pharcyde, KORN's lead singer JONATHAN DAVIS had the opportunity to trade vocals for the album's "All In The Family" with Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst. This one-time recording was done the same night Durst and the rest of the Bizkit clan appeared as guests on "KORN's After-School Special" weekly Internet program. The song–whose lyrics were written by DAVIS and Durst on-the-spot–is a wild volley of insults and harsh words each band has for the other…all in good fun, of course. A few weeks later, KORN was granted an extra-special visit by one of their all-time idols: actor/comic extraordinaire Cheech Marin (formerly of "Cheech & Chong"). He was invited by KORN to stop by the Los Angeles studio where they're recording FOLLOW THE LEADER–the follow-up to 1996's platinum LIFE IS PEACHY–to lay down vocals for the band's new version of Cheech & Chong's "Earache My Eye" from the 1978 classic soundtrack to the comedic pair's movie Up In Smoke. And in an unusual twist, the KORN guys swapped instruments for the song. To wit: lead singer JONATHAN DAVIS played drums; bassist FIELDY sang lead vocals; drummer DAVID took over on bass; and guitarists JAMES "MUNKY" SHAFFER and BRIAN "HEAD" WELCH switched the guitar parts they're usually associated with.
