korn's album premiere event is… "UNTOUCHABLE!"
KORN Break new ground by offering live Digitally-simulcast concert IN MOVIE THEATERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY; NEW YORK CITY JUNE 10 PERFORMANCE AT UNDISCLOSED LOCATION COMES ON THE EVE OF THE RELEASE OF GROUP'S MUCH-ANTICIPATED fifth ALBUM
In the classic words of KORN, "Are you ready?"
Fans of the pioneering and multi-platinum group won't have to wait until their U.S. summer arena tour kicks off June 20 to see KORN live. Audiences from coast to coast can witness a special live performance Monday, June 10–from an undisclosed NYC location–that will be the first-ever live digitally-simulcast concert exclusively in movie theaters. The precedent-setting red-carpet event–for which KORN and The Firm have teamed with United Artists, Epic Records and more than 50 of the country's top rock and alternative stations–will be seen in more than 40 movie houses in over 30 major cities throughout America on the eve of the June 11 release of the band's much-anticipated UNTOUCHABLES album. A select number of tickets for the NYC event will be available via an online promotion at the band's website (www.korn.com).
Beginning at 10:00 PM (ET)/9:00 PM (CT)/7:00 PM (PT), moviegoers will view a half-hour "making of UNTOUCHABLES" short film, featuring never-before-seen footage of the band, to be followed by an hour-long (real time) performance from KORN.
Tickets for all the theater shows will be available in late May via radio station giveaways, for purchase ($10.00) at participating theaters, or via Moviefone (UA and Edwards) or Fandango (Regal Theaters).
"The chance to do something different has always been at the heart of our band," said KORN in a statement about their plans to uniquely involve audiences simultaneously across the country for this live performance in NYC. "We just like to throw a great fucking party for our fans." In the past, KORN have marked the release of their albums in unique ways: the group webcast an album release party from Indigo Ranch Studios, they've broadcast the controversial KORN TV over the internet, visited fans all over America during their "KORN Kampaign '98" with special fan conferences and performed at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NYC in 1999 before other rock bands began using it as a venue.
"We see this as an opportunity to dynamically merge two of the most powerful forms of entertainment, music and movies," said The Firm's Jeff Kwatinetz. "This is a ground-breaking way to present KORN and other artists in a sonically and visually superior medium and to revolutionize the movie theater business."
With Untouchables, KORN have created an album that is unfathomably heavy, uncompromisingly introspective, and startlingly unique, catapulting them to yet another level. UNTOUCHABLES has been kick-started with the "Here To Stay" single–already Top Ten on the rock and alternative charts–and thought-provoking video directed by acclaimed filmmakers the Hughes Brothers ("From Hell," "Dead Presidents," "Menace II Society").
KORN's last two albums–1999's quadruple-platinum ISSUES and 1998's triple-platinum FOLLOW THE LEADER–both entered the charts at #1. The group–JONATHAN, MUNKY, HEAD, FIELDY and DAVID–have sold over 11 million albums in the U.S. since their 1994 debut album.
