LIFEHOUSE EARN
'MOST SPUN SONG OF THE YEAR' FOR
'HANGING BY A MOMENT';
RELEASE NEW SINGLE 'BREATHING';
ADD NEW DATES TO THEIR CURRENT HEADLINING TOUR;
As LIFEHOUSE's "Hanging By A Moment" earns further recognition as radio's "Most Spun Song Of The Year" (according to Broadcast Data Systems), the group are impacting with the new single "Breathing," one of the highlights of their headlining tour in support of the double-platinum debut NO NAME FACE (DreamWorks).
"Breathing" is a mid-tempo track that merges WADE's deep introspection with a lush chorus of comforting sentiments that highlight his rich baritone. In the first verse, he sings "I'm finding my way back to sanity again/Though I don't really know what I am gonna do when I get there." WADE says those particular lyrics are "about trying to get my life back to normal and having control, then realizing that having control doesn't always equal being content."
In other news, LIFEHOUSE–singer/guitarist JASON WADE, bassist SERGIO ANDRADE, drummer RICK WOOLSTENHULME and touring guitarist JOERG KOHRING–will take time out from the current trek to present an award Friday, October 26 in Las Vegas at the Radio Music Award ceremony where "Hanging By A Moment" is nominated for "Song Of The Year" in two categories: Top 40-Pop Radio and Pop Alternative Radio. The program will air that evening on the ABC network.
Rolling into New York City recently for an Irving Plaza gig, LIFEHOUSE energized the sold-out audience, with New York Times writer Ann Powers noting that "the capacity crowd sang along from the set's first note…It was easy to raise one's voice to these tunes, which usually began softly and built to anthemic conclusions (10/1/2001)."
Of the same show, the Hollywood Reporter's Frank Scheck said: "Playing just about every song from the album, the band well demonstrated the reasons for its breakout success. Their songs feature strong melodies and catchy hooks, as well as bracing intensity…The songs received just enough instrumental variation to render them sufficiently fresh from the recorded versions (9/27/01)."
LIFEHOUSE's headlining trek, with support acts The Calling and Michelle Branch, kicked off September 10 in Milwaukee and will run through the fall, including two sold-out nights at the El Rey Theater in Los Angles October 19 and 20. The band will also perform at various radio shows in December.
NO NAME FACE is a collection of "…questing, melodic rock songs, filled with internal dramas and alternative edges," as noted by Boston Globe's Steve Morse (3/9/01). In a recent LIFEHOUSE feature posted at Grammy.com, WADE said that "all these songs (on the album) were basically a diary of my life." Looking ahead, he continued: "I'm excited to get back in the studio and do another record because the songs I'm coming up with now are, not completely different than the ones that we recorded, but it's all growing. It'll be interesting to see what kind of sound is going to end up being on the second record."
