LIFEHOUSE KICK OFF FIRST HEADLINING TOUR
SEPTEMBER 10 IN MILWAUKEE
LIFEHOUSE will step into the spotlight as they embark on their first headlining tour September 10 in Milwaukee in support of their double platinum debut NO NAME FACE (DreamWorks). Coming off a sold-out arena tour with Everclear and Matchbox 20 as well as high profile shows with 3 Doors Down and Tantric, the band have invited The Calling and Michelle Branch to play with them at venues with seating up to 4,000 in various cities. The trek, affording LIFEHOUSE the opportunity to play longer crowd-pleasing sets for their fans, will carry them through major cities, including stops at New York's Irving Plaza and Chicago's The Vic, tickets for which sold out in the first hour. Joining LIFEHOUSE–singer/guitarist JASON WADE, bassist SERGIO ANDRADE and drummer RICK WOOLSTENHULME–on the tour will be guitarist JOERG KOHRING.
The band's live performances are impressing audiences and critics alike. In a review of a Washington, D.C. radio show, the Free Lance-Star (Fredericksburg, VA, March 31, 2001) noted: "Frontman Jason Wade's performance…is particularly impressive. Oscillating between falsetto and raspy baritone, his voice expresses the urgency and moodiness that pervades the collective teen-age spirit." Elsewhere, Lee's Summit Journal (Kansas City, July 27, 2001) reported: "The screams were deafening as the band took the stage, playing their brand of alterna-rock… Lifehouse can rock."
Meanwhile, NO NAME FACE continues to attract new fans, spending 10 straight months on Billboard's Pop Album chart. The powerful debut has generated two hits: the wildly popular "Hanging By A Moment"–a #1 Billboard Modern Rock hit before catapulting into the Top 5 of the publication's Hot 100 singles chart–and "Sick Cycle Carousel," enjoying a 12-week run on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. Earlier this summer, LIFEHOUSE shot the "Sick Cycle Carousel" video in Los Angeles with director Marcos Siega (Papa Roach, Weezer, Blink 182). The clip's fantastic and surreal concepts, which jointly came from the minds of WADE and Siega, are described by WADE as "part Tim Burton fantasyland and part reality."
WADE's "questing, melodic rock songs, filled with internal dramas and alternative edges" (Steve Morse, Boston Globe, March 9, 2001) have bought NO NAME FACE to a wide audience. In a Los Angeles Times feature (April 12, 2001), writer Steve Appleford noted how the band's "music has connected with young rock fans largely through lyrics that document Wade's internal struggles…Though intentionally left open to interpretation, the lines erupt with emotional conflict and themes of abandonment, loneliness and faith." For his part, WADE says in his People magazine "Spotlight" profile (August 13, 2001) that "my songs came from a broken place. Writing was therapeutic for me."
