FILM IS NOW OFFICIAL SELECTION AT SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL;
LILI TO PERFORM LIVE FOR “Codepink: Women For Peace” EVENT
IN LOS ANGELES SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7
The LILI HAYDN-scored film Over the Hill and Far Away has been accepted into the Sundance Film Festival. Marking LILI’s first-ever full film scoring, Over the Hill and Far Away–centers on a couple’s quest to find a cure for their son’s autism that takes them to the mystical reaches of Mongolia, journeying from shaman to shaman on horseback–the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and violinist extraordinaire worked with composer/guitarist Kim Carroll. This is not the first film outing for LILI, who’s been the featured voice and violin in several other films, collaborating with Hans Zimmer on Pirates of the Carribean and Guerrmo Arriaga's (Babel) The Burning Plain starring Charlize Theron as well as the upcoming thriller The Unborn (2009), which was directed by David S. Goyer and stars Gary Oldman, Odette Yustman and Cam Gigandet.
“The film is about turning heartbreak into inspiration, set in Texas and the lush scenery of Mongolia,” states Haydn about Over the Hill and Far Away. “This gave us the chance to create a delicious east meets west score both expansive and raw in a sort of Neil Young and Sigur Ros meets Crouching Tiger way. Alchemy and exoticism, what could be more perfect?!”
Look for LILI to perform music from the film and her latest album Place Between Places (Nettwerk) at the Sundance Film Festival. Meanwhile, the public will be able to view Over the Hill and Far Away at these screenings:

About LILI HAYDN:
LILI HAYDN’s current album is the critically acclaimed PLACE BETWEEN PLACES (Nettwerk Music). The album, produced by HAYDN and Grammy-winning producer-engineer Thom Russo (Johnny Cash, Macy Gray, Audioslave), delivers sounds that are inventive and torrid, equal parts Kate Bush and Pink Floyd, with compelling lyrics in search of peace and passion in an unsteady world. She shows a new sense of abandonment in her vocals to match the fire and grace of her virtuosic violin playing. Her words and melodies cover a wide musical territory, as rooted in modern rock and avant-pop as in her early studies of Brahms and Tchaikovsky. Highlights include the transcendent “Strawberry Street” (the album’s hook-laden first single) the dreamy, modern noir and KCRW favorite “I Give Up” plus the stunning opening track “Memory One” and “Saddest Sunset.” She performed the latter song in November 2009 on the hit Showtime show “Californication” during a key scene at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. LILI has played with, sung, and opened for everyone from Jimmy Page and Robert Plant (soloing on Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” before joining them again across the U.S. as the duo’s opening act) and Roger Waters (singing and playing violin with him on two songs at the 2008 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival) to Sting, Josh Groban and Herbie Hancock (playing and singing one of her own songs as part of his jazz quintet last summer). And as a sometime member of Parliament-Funkadelic, leader George Clinton has often called her “the Jimi Hendrix of the violin.” HAYDN has her own Hendrix moment on the new album’s final, unlisted track–an epic take on P-Funk’s “Maggot Brain,” a rendition she’s played to standing ovations at the Hollywood Bowl and elsewhere. She has also performed the national anthem for the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. www.myspace.com/lilihaydn.
