Following the massive success of Kiesza’s “Hideaway,” NYC-based record label Lokal Legend is announcing their follow-up release: producer/songwriter/musician LISTENBEE with his debut single “Save Me” featuring Naz Tokio.The official music video premiered today on TheFader.com; check it out here. Since the song’s debut just over one month ago (12/8), “Save Me” has been streamed nearly 500,000 times via Soundcloud. The music video is only the second one on the Lokal Legend YouTube channel, joining “Hideaway” which alone has racked up over 187 million views and 150,000 subscribers.
“I was inspired to create something different with the video for ‘Save Me,’” LISTENBEE explains. “I wanted the video to feel more like a short film than a music video. The song has a lot of soul and emotion and I wanted the video to reflect and amplify that feeling. It was important to me that the video come from a place of authenticity. We shot the video in Grenada, where the director grew up, using a local cast and never before filmed locations.”

The video was conceptualized, directed and edited by acclaimed London collective Cry\Wolf, directors Anthony Bristol and Ben Coughlan. “As soon as we heard ‘Save Me’ we both immediately fell in love,” the pair shares. “Our original idea revolved around the Favela’s of Brazil, with ‘City of God’ being a big influence towards the creative. The more we developed the idea, the more we realized that Grenada could be a perfect backdrop for our story, its untouched landscapes and rich color palette just seemed like the perfect match. One of us is Grenadian, so that knowledge of the island and experiences growing up there became part of the script.
“Sy Turnbull, our cinematographer, did a fantastic job in capturing exactly what we had imagined. Our crew was very limited, which made for its own challenges but at the same time the back to basics approach made the whole experience very creative and inspiring. We ended up casting people we spotted on the street making the shoot all the more exhilarating.”
