EXPANDS TO WEEKLY RESIDENCY EVERY WEDNESDAY AT THE EDISON
IN DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES
SPECIAL HALLOWEEN PERFORMANCE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31
With no two performances ever the same, the LUCENT DOSSIER EXPERIENCE is now thrilling audiences at the downtown Los Angeles venue THE EDISON. What began as a Wednesday night bi-weekly residency in April is now weekly, as dressed-to-the-nines crowds have been packing the trendy bar in this historic building to see LUCENT DOSSIER’s dozen-plus “fire dancers, aerial silk performers, belly dancers, contortionists, burlesque girls and daring ‘actors’…some of whom hang from the rafters inside the bar and mingle with the patrons,” noted the Los Angeles Times (7/14/08). The publication went on to proclaim: “Berlin in the 1920s. London in the swinging ‘60s. Los Angeles in 2008? Believe it.”
Between 9PM – 12 AM at the Edison, LUCENT DOSSIER (which means “a collection of glowing light” in French) performs three-to-four-minute acts every 15 minutes. The fancifully-painted performers appear like other-worldly deities onstage (with costumes all made from recycled materials) before descending into the audience for spontaneous interactions, creating a daring new paradigm between performer and audience, encouraging all to “increase their capacity to love,” which is LUCENT DOSSIER’S motto.
LUCENT DOSSIER will suspend its Wednesday-night residency on October 29 in favor of a Friday night, October 31 Halloween spectacular (at the Edison) dubbed “Phantasmagoria” before returning on Wednesday, November 5. True to their creatively unpredictable nature, the night will be filled with new and inspired performances and events including co-conspirators Street Drum Corps.
Building on the Edison’s turn of the century post-industrial architecture and décor, LUCENT DOSSIER transforms the venue into an unexpected habitat of unique experiences and environments. Get your fortune told or visit one of the many rooms such as The Lucent Dossier Post Portal–“a parallel universe where the lost letters of all dimensions are collected and redistributed to their rightful owners,” or visit The Boiler Room and let the performers serve you tea and organic raw chocolates.
For their larger touring shows, LUCENT DOSSIER weaves their organic and eye-popping landscapes by pairing with longtime collaborator Brent “Shrine” Spears and the DoLaB (www.thedolab.com). A radical art collective committed to the expansion of minds and the destruction of conventions, the DoLaB creates large-scale, colorfully bizarre, and nature-inspired environments at festivals across the globe including Coachella, Summer Sonic Tokyo, Burning Man, Vegoose and Earthdance.
