LYNYRD SKYNYRD TO CO-HEADLINE
“PARTY OF A LIFETIME” TOUR WITH SAMMY HAGAR;
LAUNCHES JULY 19 IN WISCONSIN
LYNYRD SKYNYRD will celebrate their 30th anniversary by co-headlining the “Party Of A Lifetime” Tour with Sammy Hagar, starting July 19 in Wisconsin. The venerable rock ‘n roll acts will visit amphitheaters, festivals and arenas through mid-August, flip-flopping closing duties across the U.S.
Set to release VICIOUS CYCLE–their first new studio album in four years May 20 on Sanctuary Records–LYNYRD SKYNYRD will be sponsored on the road by Jim Beam, which will have bourbon carts roaming the venues with souvenir shot glasses. In addition, local bands can enter (details to be announced at a later date) for a chance to win an opening slot on the tour’s “Party Of A Lifetime” second stage.
Meanwhile, LYNYRD SKYNYRD singer JOHNNY VAN ZANT recently spoke with Rolling Stone about the group’s new runaway radio hit “Red White and Blue,” noting that “It’s a shot at anybody that wants to be against the United States and our troops…It just really makes me angry whenever I see people going out of their way to cause us trouble. Say stuff about our president later or don’t vote for him, but right now stick behind him.”
The soaringly melodic and gutsy “Red White and Blue,” bulleted at #35 on Billboard’s Mainstream chart between Stone Sour and Creed, is a patriotic tribute to the blue collar ethics that have immortalized LYNYRD SKYNYRD, who have sold over 25 million albums. The song is currently Top 5 at Heritage Rock and has moved from 21 to 17 at R&R Rock.
