VOCAL POWERHOUSE AND “THE VOICE” FINALIST
MEGHAN LINSEY
TO PERFORM AT THE 35TH ANNUAL
“A CAPITAL FOURTH”
AIRING LIVE ON PBS THIS SATURDAY, JULY 4 AT 8PM EDT / 7PM CDT
Vocal powerhouse MEGHAN LINSEY is set to perform at the 35th annual “A Capital Fourth,” airing live on PBS this Saturday, July 4 at 8 p.m. EDT / 7 p.m. CDT. The show will take place on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., and will also feature performances from Barry Manilow, Alabama, Nicole Scherzinger, Hunter Hayes and more.
“I am beyond thrilled to be a part of the Capitol Fourth celebration,” MEGHAN says. “What better way to celebrate America’s independence than on the lawn of the Capitol? It’s incredible. As an American, I couldn’t be more honored! I’ll be checking this off of my bucket list for sure!”
In addition to the thousands watching in person and millions tuning into PBS at home, the celebration event will also be broadcast to our troops serving around the world on the American Forces Network, as well as air live in stereo over NPR member stations nationwide. More information on “A Capital Fourth” is available here.
MEGHAN just a few weeks ago wrapped up season 8 of NBC’s hit singing competition “The Voice.” She debuted her original single “Change My Mind” on May 18, 2015 during part 1 of the show’s finale. Watch her powerful and chill-inducing performance here; an official music video for “Change My Mind” was also unveiled that night on “The Voice’s” YouTube page here. The song is available now on iTunes.
Previously part of the successful country duo Steel Magnolia, the singer-songwriter recently sat down with Rolling Stone Country to discuss the new direction her solo career is headed. “‘The Voice’ was an opportunity for me to show America what I was capable of outside of the country genre, because I had been in it for so long, and people hadn’t really heard me – who I am as an artist,” she shares. “I definitely want to move in a more soulful, pop direction. I live in Nashville. I love country music, and I write country songs, so I don’t think I’m ever going to be completely out of the genre, but I think that it’s just a great opportunity to expand what I do, and to reach other audiences and people.”
