Called “…architects of exuberant electropop…” by the Irish Times, Dublin’s LE GALAXIE come to SXSW in support of their third studio album Pleasure, set for release through US label Red River Entertainment on April 6. Recorded in their Dublin studio with Swedish ultra producer Blende, Pleasure points to Le Galaxie’s evolution from purveyors of dance floor bangers to creators of well-crafted songs. It is Le Galaxie’s dream of a truly great studio dance record made manifest. The titular first single “Pleasure” was teased in 2017. A dangerously charged sensuous slice of dance pop featuring the vocals of May Kay, it is a calling card for an album that sees the band producing a new body of work to be enjoyed as much between your ears as between the throbbing floors and laser lit ceilings of venues and festivals across Ireland, Europe and beyond. Their new single “Day Of The Child” is out now.

Friday, March 16 (11:00-11:40pm) @ Mohawk Outdoor (912 Red River St.)
Formed in Los Angeles in late 2016, THE MARIAS are the psychedelic-soul lovechild of LA native, Josh Conway and Puerto Rican-bred, Atlanta-raised María. A smooth rendezvous of jazz percussion, hypnotic guitar riffs, smoke-velvet vocals and nostalgic horn solos, there’s something undeniably sensual in the group’s dreamlike fusion of jazz, psychedelia, funk and lounge. With María on lead vocals and Josh on drums, the couple is joined by three of their closest friends and fellow musicians. On guitar, Jesse Perlman, born and bred of LA, with ‘tones that can melt steel,’ say his bandmates. On bass, Canadian born and Berklee trained Carter Lee. On keys, Edward James. First hitting the airwaves last year after an early Soundcloud demo was spun by Chris Douridas on KCRW’s Eclectic 24 and the Anne Lit Show, the group began their foray into the LA music scene with KCRW’s School Night. They have since built tremendous momentum, utilizing the freedom of independent operation to build an eclectic catalog, unrestricted by any one genre. Their debut EP, titled Superclean Vol. Ifeatured songs such as “I Don’t Know You” which has over 2.5 million streams on Spotify. The follow up to the EP is Superclean Vol. II, which is set to release in early 2018.

Los Angeles-based rock ‘n roll band VISTA KICKS–known for their signature “feel-great, dance-inducing vibe” (Maxamillion Polo, Ones To Watch, 9/14/17)–are currently in the middle of their headlining “Booty Shakers Ball Tour,” which kicked off with a sold-out Valentine’s Day show at The Troubadour in Los Angeles. The two-month cross-country outing named after their debut full-length album BOOTY SHAKERS BALL will be stopping in Austin for multiple performances throughout SXSW so music fans with an affinity for energetic live rock ‘n roll should make sure to catch VISTA KICKS during the festival! The band recently performed a three-song set for Billboard Live which included songs off their latest offering, the 15-trackBOOTY SHAKERS BALL album (September 2017), which caught the ear of Buzzbands LA‘s Kevin Bronson who noted the album “certainly lives up to the promise of its title,” adding: “Unfettered power-pop, bad-boy glam, brash rock ‘n’ soul, boot-stomping bar rock-Ball spins around all of them without languishing in one place too long. More than many twentysomethings who’ve turned to classic rock, there’s craftsmanship in what they’ve made, from tasty but not overplayed guitar leads to Thomas’ just-right rocker snarl-cum-falsetto. Commence shaking.” VISTA KICKS–four lifelong friends from Northern California who grew up obsessed with the sounds of AC/DC, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, The Bee Gees and Michael Jackson–began playing anywhere and everywhere with a stage by the age of 16, taking over supper clubs, parties, and backyard barbecues. After their single “Make It Real” cracked 2 million Spotify streams, they made a collective decision to forego college and trade their small Sacramento suburb for Hollywood, forming VISTA KICKS in late 2015. Living together in a cramped one-bedroom apartment, the quartet–Derek Thomas (vocals), Sam Plecker (guitar/vocals), Trevor Sutton (bass), and Nolan Le Vine (drums)–quietly ignited a buzz throughout L.A. and beyond with two full U.S. tours under their belts and recording with Tommy Lee behind the board. Within a year, the band’s independent 2016Chasing Waves EP and additional singles generated over 5 million cumulative Spotify streams and 3.2 million YouTube views. However, everything set the stage for the release of BOOTY SHAKERS BALL-self-produced by the musicians themselves and engineered by Plecker. Listen to BOOTY SHAKERS BALL via Spotify (here), iTunes (here) or Soundcloud (here).
