FOR ‘GREY’S ANATOMY’ THIS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6
The music of NATALIE WALKER, emerging chanteuse and songwriter, returns to television this Thursday, December 6. Her song “Circles” will be featured in this week’s episode of ABC’s hit television series Grey’s Anatomy. This follows placements with songs “Quicksand” recently used in Ugly Betty and Big Shots and “No One Else” in Girlfriends. Walker is also reaching radio with a new King Britt remix of “Waking Dream,” which now can be heard on Los Angeles taste-maker radio station KCRW.
“Circles” appears on Natalie Walker’s debut album Urban Angel, which has been available in the US since the fall of 2006 both as an import and via iTunes. It’s also been available as a full domestic release on Quango/Fontana since August 28 in a digipak format with a new song added with “Crush,” as well as the Thievery Corporation remix of “Quicksand.” Wrote Crista Titus in her August 17 review in Billboard: “We've spun Urban Angel endlessly, but we still can't finger what makes it so compelling. Be it Natalie Walker's drowsy vocals or the elegant song constructions, this album drifts by like whispers and drugs you with a hypnotic undercurrent. The Philadelphia artist's refined trip-hop percolates for the ebullient confessional ‘Rest Easy.’ Beyond that, her other tracks delve into faintly smoldering seduction—‘No One Else’ celebrates that first touch—and gloom, like the desultory shuffle of ‘Circles.’ Walker even sings the praises of ‘Sanckens Doll’ in a sleepy tone. Regardless, her impact will reverberate when Universal/Fontana delivers Urban Angel stateside, and potent remixes of ‘No One Else’ and ‘Colorblind’ are also creating Internet ripples.”
Since Urban Angel’s initial release last year, Walker has stayed busy and garnered lots of attention in the process. The album’s first single, “No One Else,” was featured on the popular HBO series Entourage while the Thievery Corporation remix of its second single, “Quicksand,” appeared in a trailer for the film Marie Antoinette. Walker has been written up in publications ranging from The New York Press and The Philadelphia Weekly to Vogue and Beyond Race. She has also played many high-profile venues throughout the country, including L.A.’s Roxy Theater and Temple Bar and Joe’s Pub in New York City.
