Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, guitarist and mixed blood (Cherokee & Comanche) Native American MICKI FREE will perform Tuesday, November 2 at Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood Boulevard as part of Hard Rock International’s "IMAGINE THERE’S NO HUNGER: Celebrating The Songs Of John Lennon," a night of music and reflection featuring appearances by several special guests, including Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh, Edgar Winter and many more.
This all-star charity event will bring together several artists–including FREE, Eric Burdon of The Animals, Alex Band of The Calling, Paula Bowers-Sanchez and more–to support WhyHunger in its fight against childhood hunger and poverty around the world. In addition to performances of classic Lennon songs, culminating with an unforgettable all-star jam, there will be a Food Drive for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, helping to spotlight local efforts in the fight against hunger and poverty. Earlier this year FREE released MICKI FREE AMERICAN HORSE, his 11-track collection of guitar-driven rock, blues and roots. The album–the first in a series of NATIVE MUSIC ROCKS RECORDS releases distributed via Fontana/Universal–has received praise from fans and music critics. Malcolm Dome of Classic Rock Magazine in the U.K. said, “You can hear why Micki Free is so in demand as a guitarist. He really can cover the bases, from funk rock to psychedelia and melodic hard rock, and all infused with his own particular brand of Native American spice” (September 2010).
