As radio stations nationwide continue to spin EVERCLEAR's Top 5 Modern Rock and Modern AC/Top 15 pop hit "Wonderful" (from their SONGS FROM AN AMERICAN MOVIE VOL. ONE: LEARNING HOW TO SMILE), the group's fans should expect to hear a lot of their new single "AM Radio." The song is the #1 most added track on Pop radio this week, airing on over 60 stations. "AM Radio"–which recalls frontman ART ALEXAKIS' memories of growing up listening to pop radio–recently entered the Top 15 at Alternative radio as well.
With the soon-to-be-certified platinum SONGS FROM AN AMERICAN MOVIE, VOL. ONE: LEARNING HOW TO SMILE just released in July of this year, EVERCLEAR will issue that CD's louder sequel, SONGS FROM AN AMERICAN MOVIE, VOL. TWO: GOOD TIME FOR A BAD ATTITUDE November 21. The hard-rocking "When It All Goes Wrong Again" is pegged as the lead-off Rock radio single from GOOD TIME FOR A BAD ATTITUDE and will be performed live for the first time when the group make a return visit to "Late Show With David Letterman" Friday, November 17.
EVERCLEAR (singer/guitarist/songwriter/producer ART ALEXAKIS, drummer GREG EKLUND and bassist CRAIG MONTOYA) have been working at a feverish pace since they decided to release two albums within four months' time. Upon releasing the textured and more pop-oriented LEARNING HOW TO SMILE CD July 11, EVERCLEAR immediately returned to the studio to begin recording GOOD TIME FOR A BAD ATTITUDE.
The GOOD TIME FOR A BAD ATTITUDE CD signals a return to the louder, more guitar-driven sound that fans heard on SPARKLE & FADE (the group's platinum 1995 Capitol debut) and SO MUCH FOR THE AFTERGLOW (the '97 double platinum follow-up). A mix of heavy riffage, fuzztone explosions and untidy sentiments, it includes such songs as "Rock Star," "Misery Whip," "Short Blond Hair," "Overwhelming" and "All Fucked Up."
After completing the recording and mastering of SONGS FROM AN AMERICAN MOVIE, VOL. TWO: GOOD TIME FOR A BAD ATTITUDE, EVERCLEAR were finally able to participate in promotional activities in Europe in support of LEARNING HOW TO SMILE. They performed a sold-out gig October 10 at the Astoria in London, did massive amounts of international press and appeared on television shows in France, Germany and Sweden. In a message from Paris posted on the band's everclearonline.com website bassist CRAIG MONTOYA said they were having a blast visiting the Louvre museum: "You can spend a week in this place and still not see everything…This French lady yelled at me cuz I was touching all these huge stone coffins. Hey, I don't understand French, and I had no idea she was talking to me."
Currently, EVERCLEAR are doing double duty: putting the finishing touches on the "AM Radio" video and beginning pre-production for the "When It All Goes Wrong Again" clip, both of which are being directed by ALEXAKIS, who also did the same honors for the "Wonderful" video. EVERCLEAR will begin a world tour early next year.
