‘BACKWOODS BARBIE’ ALBUM
The release date of BACKWOODS BARBIE—DOLLY PARTON’s first album of mainstream country music in 17 years–is being moved to late February/early March and will now coincide with the launch of DOLLY’s “Backwoods Barbie World Tour 2008/2009” which kicks off February 28 at the Northrup Auditorium in Minneapolis, MN. The exact release date for the album–her first release on Dolly Records–is TBA. Meanwhile, representatives for DOLLY are looking into rescheduling the three previously announced February special club shows (Chicago, Los Angeles and New York).
For the “Backwoods Barbie World Tour 2008/2009,” DOLLY will perform hits from throughout her storied career–which includes 25 #1 hits, seven Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, five Academy of Country Music Awards and three American Music Awards–as well as songs from BACKWOODS BARBIE. She wrote nine of the songs for the album–including the current hit single and video “Better Get to Livin’”–and produced the CD with bandleader and guitarist Kent Wells.
