THE HEARTBREAKERS ALBUM
ALBUM WILL ALSO SERVE AS THE SOUNDTRACK ALBUM
FOR “SHE’S THE ONE,” THE NEW FILM
FROM EDWARD (“THE BROTHERS MCMULLEN”) BURNSLook for a new TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS album coming this summer on Warner Bros. Records. It’s titled SHE’S THE ONE.
Due out July 23, the album will also serve as the soundtrack album for this summer’s “She’s The One,” the new film from “The Brothers McMullen”‘s writer/director/star Edward Burns. The album contains all-new songs by TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS.
PETTY has also written the score for “She’s The One.” This represents an unprecedented move for PETTY, marking the first time he has written music expressly for a motion picture.
These songs by TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS (guitarist MIKE CAMPBELL, keyboardist BENMONT TENCH and bassist HOWIE EPSTEIN) are being produced by Rick Rubin with PETTY and CAMPBELL, and they’re being engineered by Jim Scott, one of the engineers who won a Grammy this year for his work on PETTY‘s WILDFLOWERS album.
The drummers on the album are Steve Ferrone (who toured with TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS in 1995), Curt Bisquera and Ringo Starr, who guests on “Hung Up And Overdue.” Tracks on the SHE’S THE ONE album include “Angel Dream,” “Grew Up Fast,” “Hope You Never,” “California,” “Walls (Circus)” and “Walls (No. 3)” and the aforementioned “Hung Up And Overdue.”
Also included on the album: parts of PETTY’s original instrumental score for the film, which is a wry, romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston, Maxine Bahns, Edward Burns, Cameron Diaz, John Mahoney and Mike McGlone.
“It’s a true honor that we’ve been able to join forces with an artist of TOM’s caliber,” said Lindsay Law, President of Fox Searchlight Pictures. “His vision, combined with Eddie’s filmmaking, has resulted in something truly special and distinctive.”
“The original music has taken the film to another level,” says Edward Burns, commenting on PETTY’s involvement with the project. “Working with TOM has been great. I was always a fan of his–so just to meet him was incredible–but to work with him has been a dream come true.”
PETTY, one of rock’s most revered figures, recently saw his 1994 triple-platinum WILDFLOWERS album earn two Grammy Awards (Best Male Rock Vocal Performance and Best Engineered Album). He also recently released the gold-certified PLAYBACK , a six-CD, 92-song retrospective of TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS. Meanwhile, their 1993 GREATEST HITS album–still charted on Billboard’s “Top 200 Albums” charts 2-1/2 years after its release–has sold over five million copies in North America alone.
