NO REST FOR THE DISTURBED
After celebrating the platinum certification of their critically acclaimed debut THE SICKNESS (Giant), DISTURBED will join Marilyn Manson as the main support on their 2001 European tour. DISTURBED, who made their overseas debut in November, will embark on the high voltage trek from January 21 though February 21, exposing the band to 13 countries, including seven in which they’ve never played before: Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Norway and Finland.
DISTURBED–vocalist DAVID DRAIMAN, guitarist DAN DONEGAN, drummer/programmer MIKE WENGREN and bassist FUZZ–continue to sharpen their hard-charging live shows, having spent most of 2000 on the road touring with Ozzfest, Kittie, Stone Temple Pilots and MTV’s Return Of The Rock Tour ll with STP and Godsmack. Everywhere they go, the Chicago-based band is winning over audiences with their original brand of hard rock led by DRAIMAN‘s dynamic vocals and introspective lyrics. In a recent live review in the Los Angeles Times, writer Lina Lecaro noted: “While the core bill of the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas at the Universal Amphitheatre remained the same for the event’s two nights…the addition on Sunday of newcomers…Disturbed…perfectly wrapped up the show’s musical gifts…the pummeling groove of Chicago-based Disturbed shone bright, as the tight, savage crew ripped through aggressive metal grinds with raw precision.”
Meanwhile, the new DISTURBED single “Voices” is causing a commotion at radio where it debuted #1 Most Added on Radio & Records’ Modern Rock and Active Rock charts. The band recently filmed a video for the powerful single in Los Angeles with adult film director Gregory Dark. The video follows a disenfranchised young man in a stereotypical, faceless 21st century workplace battling with the “voices” in his head, fantasizing about tormenting hostile co-workers who can’t accept the outsider. The only outlet he finds for his rage is a DISTURBED concert where he feels safe among others like him, venting their rage in a positive way. DAVID recently shared his thoughts on society’s expectations for people to conform: “Unfortunately, we live in a world that is governed by the fourth branch of our government, which is–no disrespect–the media…you’re told what to think, what to eat, how to act, how to dress, what music to listen to.”
