OVER 140,000 FANS
TUNED IN TO JO DEE MESSINA’S
USTREAM.COM CHAT THIS PAST SATURDAY NIGHT;
DECEMBER 5 CHRISTMAS SHOW IN NASHVILLE TO BE STREAMED LIVE
This past Saturday night (11/14), over 140,000 fans tuned in to Ustream.com to chat with country star JO DEE MESSINA and see all the behind-the-scenes action at a stop on her “Music Room Series” tour in Southern California. Over the course of three hours, the 140,000 viewers were able to chat live with JO DEE, catch her and the band warming up, and tag along for the nightly fan meet and greet. As an added bonus, viewers got to walk with JO DEE and her band from the bus onto the stage and see portions of the show from a unique backstage perspective.
JO DEE has been chatting with fans online every night of this tour, giving them unprecedented access to her, the band, her personal life and the general craziness of being on the road. She talks candidly about everything, including her upcoming new single “That’s God,” the forthcoming album (out Spring 2010) as well as plans for the December 5 Christmas charity concert which will be broadcast for free in its entirety. That show–taking place in Nashville at the Brentwood United Methodist Church–will feature several BUMC youth choirs and all proceeds will benefit Harvest Hands Community Development Corporation (CDC), a non-profit, faith-based organization in South Nashville.
Earlier this month, JO DEE also welcomed her fans to witness a moving tribute ceremony for two fallen soldiers. While out on tour in Shiprock, NM JO DEE was asked to be a part of the ceremony and sing the national anthem before a high school football game. Broadcast on UStream.com, the web audience was able to be a part of this memorable and touching performance, whereby JO DEE also sang her song “Heaven Was Needing A Hero,” another example of how JO DEE opens herself up and invites her fans to join her in all her experiences on the road.
JO DEE says, “The fans have always been really important to me and this is just another way of keeping me in touch.”
Beyond her www.jodeemessina.com and www.ustream.com chats, JO DEE has been engaging fans in other dynamic, interactive ways. JO DEE constantly Twitters her activities and utilizes her Twitter page to give away tickets via scavenger hunts and trivia questions. She has also given out her cell phone number for fans to call her, leave messages and is giving away meet and greet passes via her website and cell phone.
