PAPA ROACH
ANNOUNCE SECOND LEG OF “RAID THE NATION” TOUR DATES
WITH FEAR FACTORY AND ALIEN ANT FARM
CONFIRMED FOR OZZFEST 2001 MAIN STAGE
Fresh off a six-week sold-out European tour, PAPA ROACH hit the ground running with the launch of their major U.S. headlining “Raid The Nation” tour on Sunday, March 18 in Pensacola, FL. PAPA ROACH will infest theatres and ballrooms across the country before wrapping up the trek May 12 in Las Vegas, NV. Alien Ant Farm and Snapcase (who replaced Orgy) are supporting on the first leg of the tour, while Fear Factory replace Snapcase on the second leg. PAPA ROACHare also confirmed to perform on the main stage at this year’s Ozzfest which kicks off June 8 in Chicago, IL.
Stateside fans can expect to see a set similar to the one PAPA ROACH—COBY DICK (vocals), JERRY HORTON (guitar), TOBIN ESPERANCE (bass) and DAVID BUCKNER (drums)–played in Europe, which includes a cover of Faith No More’s “The Gentle Art of Making Enemies.” In a live review of the Nottingham, England date, Kerrang! (February 10, 2001) commented that “the band put everything they had into the show, and by all accounts, this is the case every time they play. ‘Papa Roach is our heart, our soul, our love and our passion,’ declares Dick and there’s little reason to doubt him.” Amid all this touring activity, P-ROACH are using the long drive times in between cities to write new material for their next album via a portable recording set-up on their bus. COBY recently told Rolling Stone (March 29, 2001), “Our writing process is brutal.
It’s not the most beautiful sight. It’s like making sausage. You don’t really wanna know how that shit gets made or what’s in it. But in the end, you get a nice, tasty sausage.” The band is expected to return to the studio at the end of this year.
Meanwhile, PAPA ROACH‘s latest single, “Between Angels and Insects,” continues to impact rock radio. The song is currently in #21 on both BDS’ Active and Modern Rock charts, while the Joseph Kahn-directed video has been added to MTV and MTV2. “Between Angels and Insects” is the third single off their triple-platinum DreamWorks debut INFEST, which Guitar World (January 2001) calls “a bracing rock album notable for its sense of purpose–every song on the record seems designed to make a statement-and its remarkable balance of live energy and studio craftsmanship.”
