Iconic bass player and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer PHIL LESH is set to make a number of high-profile appearances over the next few weeks, with an in-store appearance at San Francisco’s Amoeba Music plus performances at the Vegoose Festival in Las Vegas and a Bob Dylan tribute concert at New York City’s Avery Fisher Hall.
The Grateful Dead co-founder and leader of his own band, Phil Lesh & Friends, will return to his Haight Street, San Francisco roots when he will make a personal appearance on Halloween at Amoeba Music’s Haight Street location from 2PM to 4PM to meet fans and sign copies of the new live 2-DVD and 2-CD sets Phil Lesh & Friends: Live At The Warfield which will be released that day (10/31).
On the prior weekend, Lesh will make two appearances at the Vegoose Festival in Las Vegas billed as “Trey & Phil”–with guitarist Trey Anastasio–where they’ll perform both at the Orleans Arena (Saturday, 10/28) and Sam Boyd Stadium (Sunday 10/29).
On Thursday, November 9, Lesh will perform with a wide array of musical talent at a Bob Dylan tribute show at NY’s Avery Fisher Hall. Billed as “A Benefit For Music For Youth,” that show will also feature many artists including Ryan Adams, Patti Smith, Warren Haynes, Natalie Merchant and Joan Osborne, who has also been a regular in Phil Lesh & Friends, among her other credits.
The Live At The Warfield CD and DVD–recorded over two nights at the venerable San Francisco venue in May 2006–is being released by Image Entertainment and Relix Records, with each set containing exclusive material and bonus features. "The band was on fire both nights, and what we’re releasing is the absolute cream, right off the top,” says Lesh.
