CONFIRMED AT VINTAGE VINYL IN NJ ON DAY OF RELEASE;
To mark the arrival of BASTARDS OF YOUNG–the first-ever DVD documentary and concert film chronicling the rise of the modern punk, emo and hardcore music scene–producer Michelle Caputo and director Shannon Hartman have organized a special in-store autograph signing with BASTARDS OF YOUNG featured artists and indie heroes MIDTOWN, THURSDAY and FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES. The in-store event will take place at Vintage Vinyl in Ford, NJ (51 Lafayette Road) on Tuesday, June 6 at 5:00 PM, the day of the DVD’s release via Image Entertainment.
At the event, THURSDAY, FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES and MIDTOWN will meet fans and sign autographs. In addition, clips from the BASTARDS OF YOUNG DVD will be shown and creator/producer Michelle Caputo and director Shannon Hartman will be on hand for interviews.
The documentary has received early critical acclaim. In his recent feature for MTV.COM, writer Jon Wiederhorn hailed: “Caputo and director Shannon Hartman interview many key figures in the genre–including Thursday, Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday–and uncover a grass-roots music form created by and for fans before it became commercial…comprised of 20 live performances by nine bands, including Thursday, Underoath and Matchbook Romance. The kinetic concert clips illustrate why emo continues to thrive” (5/11/06).
BASTARDS OF YOUNG offers fans an unprecedented look at creation and continuation of the “DIY” independent music scene while bands tell the story of how they built a following from basement gigs to area shows one fan–and one friend–at a time. Packed with interviews from FALL OUT BOY, JIMMY EAT WORLD, JULIANA THEORY, THE BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE and SOMETHING CORPORATE the DVD also includes 20 live performances from bands at the forefront of a music scene happening today that defies tradition and is making music history.
BASTARDS OF YOUNG delves into how the indie rock/punk/hardcore and screamo genres have managed to gain recognition today not only for hooky choruses, emotional, heartfelt lyrics and frenetic live shows, but because they’re striking a chord as a lifestyle. With over three hours of rare material, the two-disc set includes live performances and backstage footage from artists such as THURSDAY, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, UNDEROATH, FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES, THE STARTING LINE, ARMOR FOR SLEEP, MIDTOWN, THE EARLY NOVEMBER, MATCHBOOK ROMANCE and EMANUEL.
