SHADOWS FALL
PREPARE FOR OZZFEST SECOND STAGE SUMMER TOUR
FOLLOWING EUROPEAN TREK;
BAND TAKES HOME ‘METAL HAMMER’ GOLDEN GOD AWARD FOR
‘BEST UNDERGROUND ACT’
Perseverance and constant touring has paid off for SHADOWS FALL. Fresh off a triumphant main stage appearance at the Download Festival at the UK’s Donnington Park with Metallica, Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson, Audioslave, Deftones, Ministry and others, the band is preparing join the second stage of this summer’s Ozzfest when it launches June 28 in San Antonio, TX. In addition, the group will perform off dates with Cradle Of Filth, Killswitch Engage and Sworn Enemy throughout the summer.
Since last September’s release of SHADOWS FALL’s critically acclaimed THE ART OF BALANCE album–which is nearing sales of 50,000–the band has headlined U.S. and U.K. treks, performed at Japan’s acclaimed Beast Feast, the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, the Kerrang! Weekender Festival and, most recently, the first annual Metal Hammer Awards. SHADOWS FALL–BRIAN FAIR (vocals), JONATHAN DONAIS (guitar), MATTHEW BACHAND(guitar), PAUL ROMANKO (bass) and JASON BITTNER (drums)–kicked off the Metal Hammer Awards ceremony at the Forum in London last week with a blistering four-song set and took home the “Golden God” award for Best Underground Act.
Meanwhile, SHADOWS FALL’s current single “Destroyer Of Senses” continues to gain momentum. It has been added to MTV2’s “Headbanger’s Ball” and FUSE-TV’s (formerly MuchMusic USA) “Uranium.” Directed by Zach Merck (Blindside, Converge,
Dropkick Murphys), the video highlights the group’s intense live performance. In other news, the album’s bludgeoning yet melodic first single “Thoughts Without Words” can be found on the newly released Big Air Experience: Music For Motocross compilation CD, also featuring Queens Of The Stone Age, Slayer, Snoop Dog, N.E.R.D. and others.
THE ART OF BALANCE continues to receive accolades from the media. Most recently (July 2003), Lorne Berhman of Guitar One called the disc “…an album of nuance with harmony and texture guitars.” In a recent live review,Jonathan Selzer, Kerrang! (June 4, 2003) described SHADOWS FALL as “a band that can still kick all different kind of ass.” Catch the band on the road in the following locations:
