SINGLE MUSIC is the brand-new industry app is exclusively aligned with Shopify to enable and empower artists and labels to directly sell music via their official web sites with instant reporting to Nielsen for official Billboard chart tallying. After its soft launch this past spring, SINGLE MUSIC continues to rapidly grow.
For the Lil Peep album, SINGLE MUSIC has revealed sales figures of over 36,000 from their platform. Total digital purchases fulfilled overall via SINGLE MUSIC, including singles and EPs, is over 175,000.

As a result of this innovation, each artist store can now become a one-stop shop for both physical and digital music, streamlining the respective methods of sale under one roof for the very first time. Additionally, by selling direct to the consumer, artists and labels receive fan demographics for future marketing efforts and release news. Moreover, it remains Nielsen-compliant in regard to official rules for popular “Bundled” package sales (i.e. physical product accompanied by a digital download).
Artists are also able to release and sell music instantly, without the multi-week waiting periods typically required by other platforms. With SINGLE, artists can run their own album presales and sell individual tracks alongside an album or bundle digital with any physical product – all reporting to SoundScan. Thanks to Shopify’s social integrations, artists can even sell on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.
Among a string of early success stories, SINGLE MUSIC notably stands out as the reporting partner or direct-to-fan digital solution for a total of five number one albums this year. These include the below:
