SOiL HITS THE ROAD WITH STATIC X
JANUARY 31 IN SAN FRANCISCO
AS “UNREAL” IMPACTS RADIO
Coming off the hotly tipped Merry Mayhem Tour with Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Zombie, Chicago’s SOiL join Static X, Soulfly and onesidezero for a four-week U.S. trek running from January 31 through February 28. This news comes as SOiL’s J Records’ debut album SCARS has soared above 100,000 copies in sales with key endorsements from the media (see below).
SCARS‘ newly released single “Unreal” was a most added track at Active Rock and is impacting Modern Rock now. “Unreal” follows the band’s Top 20 Active Rock debut single “Halo,” the video of which featured MTV and MTV2 play. SOiLrecently shot a video for “Unreal” in Los Angeles with director Marc Webb (Green Day) at the helm.
Vocalist RYAN McCOMBS says “Unreal” was written about “the amount of control, or better, the LACK of control one seems to have over his/her own life at times….and the feeling that maybe there is a higher power out there and if there is, he clearly doesn’t give a fuck about me now or the times you seem to need a little help the most.”
Here’s a sampling of early media praise for the album:
“SCARS is the heavy metal record mainstream America has been waiting more than a decade for–not because they want it, but because they need it. In a genre in need of a facelift, Soil should set the standard for years to come.”
–Paul Gargano, Metal Edge, December 2001
“Scars is a refreshingly stripped-down all-riff/no-rap affair…”
–Andy Langer, Revolver, March/April 2002
“If you like…System of a Down’s bludgeoning roar, then bang your head (and others’) heads to SOIL’s major-label debut, Scars (J).”
–David Browne, Entertainment Weekly, December 12, 2001
