THE BLACK CROWES
LIVE UP TO 'LISTEN MASSIVE' TOUR MONIKER
WITH EVER-CHANGING SET LISTS
THE BLACK CROWES weren't kidding when they billed their current North American tour as "Listen Massive."
With a new set list in town every night–written minutes before they take the stage–the group are performing over 60 songs from their body of work, with selections culled from each of their albums, including their latest V2 Music release LIONS.
During their recent three-night sold-out run at New York City's Beacon Theater, THE BLACK CROWES performed 42 different songs, while every show of the tour has averaged over two hours in length. Rarities on the "Listen Massive" trek have included "P.25 London," "Seeing Things," "Nebakanezer," "Feathers," and "Tied Up & Swallowed," while fan favorites like "Wiser Time," "My Morning Song" and "Jealous Again" have been heard more often.
The group-singer CHRIS ROBINSON, guitarist RICH ROBINSON, drummer STEVE GORMAN, keyboardist EDDIE HARSCH, guitarist AUDLEY FREED and new bassist ANDY HESS–have also treated fans to a few choice covers, including Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well," Pink Floyd's "Lucifer Sam" and their popular interpretation of Otis Redding's "Hard To Handle."
In a preview of the New York shows, David Sprague of the Village Voice said, "…the Brothers Robinson have forged a strangely compelling blend of post-Keith menace and prepunk sunshine. They make a joyful noise, and in an age when those two words are seldom used together, the Crowes may well be rock's most valuable players" (9/25/01).
The "Listen Massive" tour returns to the Beacon October 29 and wraps in Boston on Halloween. Check out www.theblackcrowes.com for news and set lists, which are updated daily.
