GUITAR CENTER “ON STAGE”
If there was ever a rock group that arrived exactly at the right moment, it’s THE LAST VEGAS. “It’s the last original sin…the last party before the world goes up in a ball of smoke…the climax,” reveals the band about their moniker.
Armed with their blazing single “I’m Bad,” which “combines rock, glam and garage for an ass-kicking sound” (Billboard, 1/10/09),” THE LAST VEGAS will hit the road February 2 for the six-week “Saints Of Los Angeles 2009 Tour” with Mötley Crüe, Hinder and Theory Of A Deadman (tour dates listed below).
After building a huge fan and media buzz in their native Chicago–then touring 17 countries and independently selling 10,000 copies of their self-titled debut CD–THE LAST VEGAS were hand-picked by Mötley Crüe as part of Guitar Center’s On-Stage program in November; in fact, the band was chosen out of nearly 8,000 submissions. They’re now embedded in Los Angeles recording their new album with veteran rock producers DJ Ashba (Sixx:A.M., Mötley Crüe) and Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne). Nikki Sixx, co-founding member of Mötley Crüe and President of Eleven Seven Music, will also be hands-on in the group’s development. The album, to be released on Eleven Seven Music, is on track for release in Spring 2009.
The upcoming disc’s opening salvo “I’m Bad” is currently available via AOL and iTunes. In a single review in Billboard, writer Kristina Tunzi said vocalist CHAD CHERRY’s “snarly, sexy delivery makes you want to reach for the stripper pole, and infectious rhythms and thrashing guitar riffs add the right amount of sleaze. No doubt, rock’n’roll is here to stay in ’09. (January 10, 2009)”
THE LAST VEGAS recorded “I’m Bad” with Nikki Sixx, DJ Ashba and Marti Frederiksen late last year, just three days after winning at the Guitar Center On-Stage finals. Guitarist ADAM ARLING elaborates on the dynamic in the studio: “We all knew what we wanted, everyone was on the same page, so when we started working it was exactly what it should have been–the best job you can do, and most of all it was fun. Marti's got the golden ear, Nikki never has a bad idea, and DJ gets sick tone.”
As part of Guitar Center On-Stage’s major effort to organically support and elevate new artists, THE LAST VEGAS received a recording deal with Eleven Seven Music and Tenth Street Entertainment (Mötley’s label and management company), $25,000 in cash and $20,000 in gear from Gibson, in addition to landing an opening slot on the “Saints Of Los Angeles 2009 Tour” and a gig supporting Mötley Crüe at Hollywood’s famed Palladium this past November. Guitar Center On-Stage is a revolutionary platform for scouting and launching upcoming, unsigned artists in the music industry. THE LAST VEGAS–ADAM ARLING (guitar), NATHAN ARLING (drums), JOHNNY WATOR (guitar), DANNY SMASH (bass) and CHAD CHERRY (lead vocals)–deliver high-energy spectacles, with a deliciously trashy, roughed-up edge. Teeming with unbridled, raw talent and influenced by such artists as Johnny Thunders, AC/DC, Black Flag, Misfits, Guns N’ Roses and the Sex Pistols, THE LAST VEGAS possess the ability to musically beat crowds into submission, leaving fans no choice but to beg for more. "The overall talent and energy of The Last Vegas surpassed our expectations," said Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil. "Mötley Crüe is excited to pass the torch on to these amazing musicians, just as Ozzy did for us over 25 years ago.”
Here’s a sample of what the press has said about the band:
"Best New Discovery”
–Doug Brod, SPIN, March 19, 2008 (SXSW 2008 coverage)
“Ace garage-rockers…”
–Jim DeRogatis, www.JimDero.com (Chicago Sun-Times Pop Music Critic), August 3, 2007
“…pure, good-time hard rock, free of irony and heavy intellectual lifting. Blessed with a singer whose bloozy stylings…as well as a menacing wall of riffage and tunes about chicks and rocking out…the Chicago quintet was a good…sleazy time.”
–Joan Anderman/Sarah Rodman, Boston Globe, March 19, 2007 (SXSW coverage)
“Raunchy, rowdy, and ruffed-up glam rock.”
–Jennifer Maerz, The Stranger (Seattle), November 11, 2004
