BAND RETURNS WITH FIRST STOP
AT SXSW IN AUSTIN
NEW SINGLE
“WRONG CLUB”
IMPACTING RADIO NOW
Following a successful run of select critically acclaimed dates, THE TING TINGS have extended their North American tour with an additional 23 stops across the country. The U.K. pop duo is touring in support of their new full-length album SUPER CRITICAL, out now via Finca/[PIAS]. The album’s first single “Wrong Club” has just impacted commercial radio and is already playlisted at major market stations including Alice in San Francisco and KAMX in Austin.
The tour kicks off with a special performance at an official showcase during SXSW March 17-22, with the first headlining performance taking place Monday, March 23 at the House of Blues in San Diego, CA. THE TING TINGS will then play The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles March 24 and The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco March 26, returning to both markets following recent swift sold-out shows in more intimate venues. In addition, they will hit large markets including Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis and Chicago before stopping in Brooklyn on April 6 for a previously postponed date at Rough Trade. Tickets for all dates–listed below–go on sale this Friday, January 30 at www.thetingtings.com/tour.html.
In the first series of shows, 4 out of 5 dates sold-out well in advance and received high praise from the media:
“This set was incendiary and could have gone into corybantic obscurity, alas it never did cause these guys have excellent method to their jubilant madness. Powering through their set playing such hits as the anthemic ‘Shut Up and Let Me Go,’ the funk monster ‘Hang It Up’ and their big arena filler ‘That’s Not My Name.’ A personal favorite from the set was their Discoteque friendly burner ‘Only Love’…”
–Kieran MacIntire, MONSTERSANDCRITICS.COM, 1/27/15
“For just two people, The Ting Tings never fail to blow concertgoers minds.”
–Tashana Billey, LIVEINLIMBO.COM, 1/21/15
“…things started getting wild. White had an appetite for destruction and went on a stage-wide rampage, carelessly dropping her guitar into the careful waiting hands of a roadie, beating the bass drum until it fell over its stand, breaking a drumstick on a cowbell, and of course, it wouldn’t be complete without dropping a mic stand like a real rock star.”
–Ashley Emma NG, BESTFAN.COM, 1/25/15
“Probably the most unique song of the night was the encore closer, the greatly reworked “Hands.” With pulsing/blinding strobe lights and a pumping beat, they played around with it for a while (with Jules off drums and beside Biox), I think it illustrated both their ingenuity as well as the versatility of their songs, which they have been known to rework in new and interesting ways.”
–Jason Debord, ROCKSUBCULTURE.COM, 1/27/15
THE TING TINGS–known for their massive hits“That’s Not My Name”and “Shut Up and Let Me Go,” among others–approached this new album differently. Feeling uninspired, the two sought out an adventure in late 2012 which took them to Ibiza. While there, someone introduced Katie and Jules to Duran Duran’s stalwart guitarist Andy Taylor who offered to help sift through some old demos and became co-producer of this project. Songs began emerging. The result is SUPER CRITICAL, a hook-stuffed, introspective, modern disco record.
Fans were first given a glimpse into SUPER CRITICAL with the release of the album’s first single “Wrong Club,” now getting spins at radio. Billboard’s Jason Lipshutz wrote “Wrong Club” is “…a single that shimmies forward with the disco thump of Daft Punk’s mega-hit ‘Get Lucky,’” (6/3/14) while PerezHilton.com raved, “The British duo have gone indie and released their best record in years! Channeling some Chromeo goodness, The Ting Tings have gone super disco and it is glorious!” (9/4/14) Check out the song’s music video here.
