FILM FIRST-EVER SOLO LIVE CONCERT DVD;
LIMITED EDITION WHITE VINYL 7” NOW AVAILABLE;
GROUP PREPARES FOR U.S. FALL TOUR
“…Tsunami Bomb’s sound is based on that of the ubiquitous Cali-punk Descendents, the quartet delivers bouncy ska-punk, Blondie-ish new wave, thundering hardcore and Black Flag-inspired old-school punk. Agent M.’s powerful roar and scalding jets of verbiage hold it all together.”
–Chris Parker, HOUSTON PRESS, 8/26
After wrapping a U.S. headlining tour, TSUNAMI BOMB are garnering critical acclaim for their breakout album THE DEFINITIVE ACT–just released September 21 via punk indie Kung Fu Records–and volcanic live shows.
Fans can look forward to the group’s first-ever solo concert DVD for the Kung Fu Records live DVD series “The Show Must Go Off.” Filmed at a recent show outside Los Angeles, the DVD will be released later this year. A new limited-edition white vinyl 7” featuring “Safety Song” and “My Machete” from THE DEFINITIVE ACT are now available on the band’s website, www.tsunamibomb.com.
In his upcoming CD review for Alternative Press, writer Trevor Kelley praised the band’s unique sonic range: “…had Lagwagon tried to sound more like Blondie or had Discount stuck around long enough to dabble in metal-leaning hardcore. The expansive pop-punk on The Definitive Act delivers this and at least a dozen other stylistic turns.” Equal parts introspective and propulsive, THE DEFINITIVE ACT is the band’s most varied effort to date. The album’s first single is the dynamic lead track “Dawn on A Funeral Day.”
For the new album, TSUNAMI BOMB–AGENT M. (lead vocals), MIKE GRIFFEN (guitars, backing vocals) MATT MCKENZIE (bass) and GABE LINDEMAN (drums)–enlisted former Hot Rod Circuit drummer Mike Poorman (Orange Island, Piebald) to produce. As a result, THE DEFINITIVE ACT–the group’s second full-length offering on Kung Fu–is a diverse 12-song collection filled with their signature melodic and engaging punk rock anthems fused with razor sharp rhythms.
Check out what the critics are saying about TSUNAMI BOMB and some early praise for THE DEFINITIVE ACT:
“With powerful songs and a kickass live show, TSUNAMI BOMB are poised to own the underground’s hearts.”
–Waleed Rashidi, ALTERNATIVE PRESS, October 2004
“…a wired amalgam of Bad Religion and Black Flag crossed with the edgy, eeriness of Alkaline Trio.”
–Daniel Lane, METAL HAMMER (U.K.), October 2004
“Tsunami Bomb sells its upbeat brand of punk with an onslaught of guitars and catchy riffs, Agent M.’s voice soaring above it all.”
–Andrea Noble, RIVERFRONT TIMES (St. Louis, MO), 7/28/04
“…while…there’s no denying the pandemic appeal of Tsunami Bomb…seeing this band live is a rock and roll experience that you can’t afford to miss.”
–Jaysen Buterin, ESP (Greensboro, NC) August 11-17 2004
“The main portion of this album…{The Definitive Act} has…{a} galloping catchy pace in every song, as well as abundant breaks and in-betweens. Add to all this an amazing melodic, yet ballsy female voice that holds the middle between Tilt and the Dance Hall Crashers and you’ll have all the ingredients for the tight album this is.”
–Hein Terweduwe, PUNKUPDATES.COM, September 2004
