ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL 10
EXPANDS EXTENSIVE GOOD WILL EFFORTS INCLUDING
ULTRA FOR LIFE, THE ECO VILLAGE AND ULTRA GREEN;
JOINS FORCES WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI AND WORLD WILDLIFE FUND
TO PARTICIPATE IN EARTH HOUR ON SATURDAY, MARCH 29, 2008 AT 8PM EST
ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL–the nation’s premiere electronic music extravaganza set for Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 at Bicentennial Park in Miami, FL–is excited to announce their involvement with the landmark worldwide event Earth Hour (www.earthhour.org).
UMF10 will dim the lights on its stages at 8pm EST on Saturday, March 29 in honor of Earth Hour. That’s when millions of people around the world will turn off their lights to show how by working together we can make a difference in the fight against climate change. Organized by World Wildlife Fund, UMF is working hand in hand with the City of Miami and Mayor Manuel A. Diaz to take part in the largest voluntary power down in history.
In addition to the city of Miami, major U.S. and international cities participating in Earth Hour include Atlanta, Bangkok, Brisbane, Chicago, Copenhagen, Dublin, Manila, Melbourne, Montreal, Phoenix, San Francisco, Sydney, Tel Aviv, Toronto, Vancouver. Globally recognized landmarks and buildings in each city as well as sports teams, corporations and major events like UMF10 will participate.
UMF’s participation in Earth Hour expands its already extensive good will efforts, including Ultra for Life, the Eco Village and Ultra Green. Ultra For Life is a nonprofit group dedicated to helping today’s youth become active in projects that help protect the planet and its life for generations to follow. Now in its fifth year, the Eco Village promotes an earthlike atmosphere with a sound stage featuring a diverse range of positive music and performance art. It also hosts a diverse range of well-established non-profit group–including The Red Cross, Life Beat and American Civil Liberties Union–that are able to promote there initiatives, recruit volunteers and raise funds. UMF's green initiative Ultra Green has joined forces with Global Inheritance and the TRASHed Recycling store, an on-site program where attendees can collect empty plastic bottles from the site and redeem them at the Recycling store for points which add up to different prizes–merch, autographed memoribilia, etc.
ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL runs in conjunction with the Winter Music Conference (WMC) and features over 150 of the world’s top electronic and DJ artists spread out over seven different areas each day. UMF was founded in 1999 and has branched out to produce ULTRA and UMF-branded events in Miami, the Caribbean, Ibiza and Brazil. Festival highlights at this year’s 10th Anniversary show will include performances by Underworld, Tiësto, Paul van Dyk (performing a very rare live set), two exclusive days of Carl Cox & Friends and The Bravery. UMF10 will also have additional exclusive live performances and DJ sets during WMC by Justice, Moby, BT, Digitalism, Junkie XL, Calvin Harris, Rabbit In The Moon, Deadmau5, Second Sun and Enur, whose WMC exclusive performance marks their U.S. debut.
