VANS WARPED TOUR®
PARTNERS WITH ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM
FOR EXHIBIT AND TIME CAPSULE
The VANS WARPED TOUR–America’s longest-running touring festival–has partnered with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland to create an exhibit and time capsule to document the history of the tour from its inception in 1995 through the present.
Items are now being gathered for the exhibit–on display for six months from January through June 2007–from a wide variety of musicians and athletes who have appeared on the VANS WARPED TOUR over the past twelve years. Once the initial six-month exhibit ends, these items will be put into a “time capsule” to be stored at the museum for 25 years, opened at a special event in 2031 and again displayed for an additional six months.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will recognize the cultural relevance of the VANS WARPED TOUR and its significance to the punk rock/skate community with the 2007 exhibit and the time capsule.
“The VANS WARPED TOUR truly helped bring the punk rock skate culture into the view of mainstream society,” said Jim Henke, Chief Curator at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. “Few tours have had the impact and staying power of the Vans Warped Tour.”
The media will get a sneak peak at some of the items that will be included in the exhibit at the August 11 VANS WARPED TOUR date at Tower City in Cleveland, OH, home of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. At that point, the items will be taken by the museum and prepared for the January exhibit launch.
