VELVET REVOLVER
TAKE COUNTRY BY STORM
WITH SMASH SINGLE AND INSTANT CONCERT SELL-OUTS
AS STAGE IS SET FOR THE JUNE 8 RELEASE OF
THEIR DEBUT ALBUM ‘CONTRABAND’;
BAND BLOWS ROOF OFF OF THE ROXY IN LOS ANGELES
SUNDAY, MAY 9 WITH SPECIAL SURPRISE SHOW
A smash single, instant concert sell-outs and additional tour dates are all setting the stage for the June 8 release of VELVET REVOLVER’s debut album CONTRABAND (RCA), packed with “a new brand of swaggering rock” (Revolvermagazine, June 2004).
“Slither,” the album’s first single, continues to explode at radio. In only four weeks of release, it has vaulted to Top 5 on the mainstream, modern and active rock charts. The striking Kevin Kerslake directed video–set at a “catacomb party” where the group give an electrifying performance–is already in rotation on MTV, MTV2, VH1 and Fuse.
As soon as tickets went on sale for the band’s first-ever concert tour, virtually every show sold out instantly. Tickets for the group’s two hometown Los Angeles shows at the Wiltern sold out in two minutes. In New York City, fans scooped up tickets for the Roseland show in 10 minutes, while the Philadelphia show sold out in four minutes, marking the fastest sell-out in Electric Factory’s history.
Prior to heading out on the road, VELVET REVOLVER–lead vocalist SCOTT WEILAND, guitarist SLASH, bassist DUFF McKAGAN, drummer MATT SORUM and guitarist DAVE KUSHNER–blew the roof off of LA’s Roxy on Sunday night where they performed an open dress rehearsal for contest winners, friends and family. The band tore through a lethal set encompassing material from their album, as well as songs by Guns N’ Roses and Stone Temple Pilots, plus a cover of Nirvana’s “Negative Creep.”
VELVET REVOLVER have added six shows to their intimate venue trek: Las Vegas (6/11), Phoenix (6/13), Austin (6/17), Houston (6/18), Dallas (6/19) and Denver (6/22).
