VOODOO MUSIC EXPERIENCE
RETURNS HALLOWEEN WEEKEND
Set against the lush backdrop of New Orleans City Park, just two miles from the famed French Quarter, Voodoo MUSIC EXPERIENCE (vmx) has announced its return to Halloween weekend with this year’s dates set for Saturday, October 29th and Sunday, October 30th. Come “Worship the Music” as America’s most diverse music festival is set amidst 11 miles of bayous and lagoons and see how the locals do Halloween with a little help from some of the top artists in the music world today.
In 2004 VMX attracted more than 60,000 attendees, who spent a full weekend traversing between the festival’s two main stages and five additional unique performance areas to experience acts ranging from Green Day, Beastie Boys, Velvet Revolver and Kid Rock to The Polyphonic Spree, The Pixies, Cypress Hill, Steel Pulse and De La Soul.
Known for its diverse blend of high quality artists from all genres as well as up and coming critical favorites, each year’s talent is hand-picked by festival organizer Stephen Rehage with music fans traveling from across the country and around the world to be on hand for this unique event.
Keith Spera of the TIMES PICAYUNE has noted: “From its 1999 inception in City Park, the Voodoo Music Experience has aspired to a smart, eclectic mix of contemporary rock, rap and local music, a Halloween hybrid of Lollapalooza and Jazzfest presented as a sleek package on multiple stages. That philosophy still guides the festival.”
