GRAMMY® NOMINATED ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCER TEAMS WITH WILL.I.AM FOR NEW SINGLE “FOREVER”
TAPS LEGENDARY STREET ARTIST HAZE FOR NEW LOGO
AND GARNERS TWO IDMA NOMINATIONS FOR “BEST BREAKTHROUGH DJ” AND “BEST ELECTRO/TECH HOUSE TRACK” FOR “ANIMAL RIGHTS” WITH DEADMAU5
As anticipation rises for WOLFGANG GARTNER’s debut studio album—out this spring on Ultra Music—the Grammy®-nominated electronic music producer and DJ has made available a new music video for “Illmerica” and a brand new logo created by legendary street artist Haze. GARTNER has also announced “Forever,” a new song which heralds a musical collaboration with international superstar will.i.am. He’s also been nominated for two International Dance Music Awards.
Ryan McNamara from the Mackingwell (http://mackingwell.com/) production house did the treatment and directed the video for “Illmerica,” which is now available via YouTube’s music page. His past credits include videos for Converse as well as A Gentle Man and Stuntditch, but nothing he’s done thus far is like what he’s created for “Illmerica.” From the American Revolution, the birth of freedom and the Underground Railroad to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, Hiroshima and the Gulf War, “Illmerica” captures our country’s torrid 300-year history in clip art style animation. Meanwhile, GARTNER’s art direction takes a forward step with a new logo (pictured above) created by graffiti artist Eric Haze. Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Haze has been making his impact felt in the worlds of art, product and graphic design for over 30 years. After spending the early 80's on the front lines of the downtown New York art scene, Haze opened his design studio in 1986, becoming one of the first visual artists to define the look and graphic language of hip-hop during its golden years. Some of his most classic works include designs for Public Enemy, EPMD, LL Cool J and the Beastie Boys.
Additionally, GARTNER has received two nominations in the 26th Annual International Dance Music Awards (IDMA)—happening March 8-11, 2011, in Miami, FL, as part of the Winter Music Conference—including “Best Electro/Tech House Track” for “Animal Rights,” his collaboration with Ultra Music label mate deadmau5, and “Best Break-Through DJ.” Voting ends Friday, February 18th, 2011. Following the news of his recent first Grammy® nomination in the "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical" category for his reworked version of house music producer Andy Caldwell’s “Funk Nasty” featuring Gram'ma Funk (Uno Recordings) and release of a new single “Space Junk” (Ultra Music), GARTNER has teamed with will.i.am on a brand new single for the album. Titled “Forever,” the song is currently in treatment for a video that will WOLFGANG’s visual follow-up to “Illmerica.”
In 2010, the Austin, TX-based producer debuted at #70 on DJ Mag’s prominent annual “Top 100 DJs” list, the world’s leading DJ poll and a who’s who collection of today’s biggest names in the electronic/dance genre that attracts over 350,000 votes, with over 10,000,000 people viewing the results yearly. In addition, GARTNER also debuted as a featured guest on BBC Radio 1’s influential Essential Mix series, hosted by tastemaker DJ/producer Pete Tong, and was one of only 10 artists to be nominated for Best Essential Mix of 2010. Earlier in the year, “Animal Rights” was released to critical acclaim with the Washington Post praising the song as an “…infectious, disco-happy new track” (8/31/10). After only three days from its initial exclusive release on Beatport, “Animal Rights” hit #1 on the specialty retailer’s best sellers chart and is still going strong to this day.
One of the world’s fastest rising stars in electronic music, WOLFGANG GARTNER will appear at Pacha in New York City this Saturday, January 29.
